Description

The Sigge & Siri beanie includes four models that fit both boys and girls, and from babies to adults. Sew a simple hat, perfect for beginners, a bow hat or a hat with ears. The pattern includes teddy bear ears and bear ears.

Difficulty level:
1/3.

Sizes: 14 sizes from 34 (premature) to 60 (adult large).

YOU NEED:

Fabric: The pattern is designed and tested for knit fabrics such as jersey and college with 40% stretch. Feel free to use the stretch guide in the pattern. If you use a fabric that has much more than 40% stretch, I recommend going down 1 size.

The calculation is approximate and applies to washed (pre-shrunk) fabrics with a width of 150 cm. If you are going to buy new fabric for your project, please add 10-20 cm just in case.

The width of the cap is 35 cm in the smallest size and 60 cm in the largest size. You can therefore get 4 caps in the smallest size, on 40 cm long fabric (which is 150 cm wide).

The consumption in the table above therefore refers to the length of fabric that is used. If you want to sew rabbit ears in a fabric other than the hat, there is also a column for the length/height needed for them. For the teddy bear ears, you can get by with 15 cm in all sizes.

• Sewing machine needle: Don't forget to use the right needle for your fabric, a stretch needle is usually recommended for knitwear.

• Other useful materials: wadding to fill out the ears if you wish, or spacers to stabilize the ears. However, you can sew the ears without any spacers or batting.

Size guide

Choose size based on the child's or adult's head circumference. For example, if the head circumference is 53 cm, choose size 54. For this sewing pattern, I recommend knit fabrics (eg jersey and college) with 40% stretch (please use the stretch guide in the pattern).

If your fabric has much more stretch than 40%, I recommend going down a size on the width. All measurements are in cm.

HOW DO YOU MEASURE HEAD CIRCUMFERENCE?
Put the measuring tape around the head and measure where the head circumference is greatest, between the forehead and the back of the head. You may need to move the tape measure around a bit to find this measurement.
